Technology is important because it makes life easier and it affects how we shop, play and most importantly learn. Nowadays it’s hard to find schools or colleges that don’t include technology in the classroom. Using technology in the classroom effects on teachers and students, although there are many advantages and disadvantages of using technology in the classroom. (Ashley Wainwright, n.d)
One of the advantages of using technology in the classroom is that it helps the teacher to plan for her lessons. For example, teacher could use some videos, pictures that related to the lessons to present for the students and make it easier for them to understand and learn better. (Linda Starr, 2012)
Another advantage of using technology in the classroom is that it can help teachers to share the student some details such as lessons, grades and feedbacks. Technology also helps parents to track their children’s details such as grades, feedback and attendance records. For example, during the weekends and vacations it makes it easier for teachers and parents to contact each other. (Using Technology to Enable Parent Teacher Communication, 2015)
Moreover, students can learn different skills by using technology in the classroom. For example, using their hands develop their fine motor skills. Reading and writing skills and cognitive skills can be improved by using technology too. (David Andrade, 2011)
However, there are some disadvantages of using technology in classroom such as accessing harmful websites. For example students might be watching inappropriate videos or websites and playing dangerous games such as violence games.
Another disadvantage of using technology in the classroom is that it is a time waste. For example if there are technical issues in the devices it could take long time to get it fixed which will affect the students in their learning and they will not be able to finish their lessons. (Advantages and Disadvantages of Using Technology in the Classroom, n.d)
Laziness in studying is another disadvantage of using technology in the classroom. For example students now could find the answers of their questions in the internet so this stops them away from trying hard and using their own thinking skills. (Advantages and Disadvantages of Technology in Education, 2014)
In conclusion, I think technology is helpful for the teachers and students because as a teacher it helps her to find easier ways to help the students understands the lesson and as a students it develop their skills by using technology. And also as parent it keeps them in contact with the teacher all the time and faster to know about their children details. (David Andrade, 2011)
